The Siants achieved an easy 2-0 win against their Premier League rival in the Southampton vs Fulham match yesterday. With that win, Southampton now secures the 17th place in the table. On the other hand, Fulham is now occupying the 19th place and trying their best to avoid the relegation. They will now need 10 points in their last ten games this season.
Since the starting whistle, Southampton displayed their domination over Fulham. Oriol Romeu scored the opener for Southampton in the 23rd minute of the game. James Ward-Prowse then sealed the 2-0 victory for the Saints with his brilliant goal in the 40th minute. Fulham failed to score any equalizer even in the second half.

Right after the defeat, Fulham sacked their manager Claudio Ranieri as Fulham owner Shahid Khan’s statement in the club’s website reads, “Claudio’s tenure at Fulham didn’t produce the outcome we anticipated and needed when I appointed him as manager in November, but be assured he is not solely to blame for the position we are in today.”
He stated, “Claudio walked into a difficult situation, inheriting a side that gained only one point in its prior eight matches, and he provided an immediate boost by leading our club to nine points in his first eight matches as manager.” The owner then further added, “Though we were unable to maintain that pace thereafter, I am grateful for his effort. Claudio leaves Fulham as our friend and he will undoubtedly experience success again soon.”
